Two year olds are so tempestuous, yeah? And yet, I like the fit this one is throwing. Republic in Uptown is turning two years old and flipping all 56 taplines to Minnesota beer for the entire month of November to celebrate!
It all started when owner Matty O’Reilly (who was one of our fresh hops judges at the Harvest Beer Fest) decided to add an additional 48 taplines to the original 7 Corners location of Republic (yes, chums, that means that there will be a WHOPPING 104 taps there sometime very soon**). “I kept asking myself how I could make sure that Uptown had an identity of its own. So I assembled a 56 tap list using all Minnesota breweries, 30 different ones so far, and I really liked what I saw.”
“Two years ago, the choices and styles just weren’t there to have a list that big, yet still manage to honor the quality and year-round consistency of the offerings that come from Colorado, California, Oregon, Belgium, etc. “ O’Reilly notes. “But now, as it looks, new breweries and the MN craft beer veterans continue to reset the bar for what to expect for years to come. It’s very exciting to be a part of it!”
Republic is definitely one of the best places to sample craft beers and hang out, this year the Uptown location also added two bocce ball courts and there’s a shuffleboard table on the way. Plus, there’s a new food menu that just launched this week.
So if perhaps you're tired of driving from taproom to taproom, consider Republic your one-stop-shop for local beers, at least through November.
** Not for nothing, those 104 taps at the 7 Corners location will, of course, have some local flow, but get excited for some world-class ciders, sours, Belgians, obscure beers, and more that will be coming from those handles. Stay tuned for the full info on THAT!
