Looking for that perfect First Day of School cupcake, I stumbled on the opening day of Yum! Kitchen & Bakery in Minnetonka. Having taken over the former Pairings space just off of Shady Oak Rd. and the Crosstown, the second Yum! is quietly and softly open, ready to serve up coffee, cupcakes, cinnamon pull-aparts, and more.

The inside has been revamped and reads much like the original St. Louis Park location. Lots of white airy space, those beautifully crafted wooden tables, and an open kitchen banked with deli cases anchor the long room.

Owner Patti Soskin was there, training her young staff. She's excited to be starting this next phase, and remarked that they're still hiring (if you know a guy). Like the original, it's still counter service, which should work well for the many office workers in the area who just want to pop in for a quick bite. The menu is largely the same with familiar favorites in the bakery case and take-out meals ready for the grabbing. I might have slipped out with some mac 'n' cheese and those addictive crispy brussel sprouts, but I keep thinking about popping back for a breakfast sandwich or a nut goodley bar. One big change is the patio. This one is large, with almost as many seats outside as there are inside.

Check them out! They're open for B/L/D daily.
