Ryan Burnet, the restaurant owner who brought us Barrio, Bar La Grassa, and Burch Steak & Pizza, is about to add another name to the family (and it doesn’t start with B).
Eastside is the name of his newest restaurant that will debut on the ground floor of the swanky new Latitude 45 building under construction on 3rd and Washington Ave., across from the Minneapolis depot.
The casual restaurant will be neighborhood focused, serving the offices and many condos being built in the area. There will be about 164 seats, with both indoor and outdoor seating, serving dinner and weekend brunch. Truly, this is both an underserved and fast-growing area.
Burnet has named Remy Pettus as the Executive Chef. Pettus, who has cooked locally at Cosmos and nationally at Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsberg and Moto in Chicago, plans a classic American menu of dishes made with the best ingredients and simple technique: roasted half chicken, calamari a la plancha, wood roasted carrot salad and the like. The concept is still being worked through, but Burnet is excited to be bringing something fresh to that side of town.
Pettus actually grew up in the Downtown East neighborhood, so this is a bit of a homecoming for him. The new spot should be open by August.
