Well, there it is. Once I heard that Local D'Lish, one of the pioneering local food shops in town, was closing, I started digging into the rumors that someone else had already signed the lease.
As of March 1, Cooks of Crocus Hill will be taking over the Local D'Lish space which is down the block from The Bachelor Farmer and across from Spoon and Stable. What I'm saying is, it's a hot street and wasn't going to be vacant for long.
Owners Marie Dwyer and Karl Benson confirmed their intentions in a statement:
"Over the past few months, we've been looking into the possibility of adding a Minneapolis location. In fact, we've signed a lease for a space in North Loop. The location is fantastic and our minds are spinning with possibility. We haven't fully articulated our plans, but we know it will be a riff on everything we currently do well. We are using this opportunity to spread our wings a bit—food discovery, education and a focused assortment of new and interesting goodies.
The North Loop is a neighborhood with a dynamic trajectory and we are very excited to add a little Cooks' experience to the mix.
At this time, we don't have definitive details to report, but as things unfold, we'll absolutely keep you in the loop!"
OK! So get ready, North Loopians, for something different, but still foodish. Cooks has locations in St. Paul, Edina, and Stillwater with a shop-in-shop at the Woodbury Kowalski's.
