Your Home: Light Up!

Q: I’d like to change up my room without completely making it over. Can I bring in just a few new pieces but otherwise work with what I have?

A: Absolutely. A designer can help you find one or two statement pieces that jazz up a room’s overall look while still working with your existing furnishings. For instance, we could give a classic chair new appeal by reupholstering it with a more contemporary fabric—perhaps a fun lime or hot pink velvet, or maybe a fabric with a larger print. While the trend is to go more transitional and eclectic, you certainly can go for a more reserved look as well. Either way, you’d be surprised at how much a new piece or two can really freshen a room’s entire look.
