The countdown to our wedding has flown by! I look back on all the things that had to get done, all the boxes that needed to be checked, all the payments that had to be made, and I wonder how on earth we actually got it all finished in time. As I write this, there’s still about a week left for something to go catastrophically wrong, but as smoothly as everything’s gone up until now, I think it’s going to be a smooth ride all the way through.
All of the big things got taken care of in the few weeks after we got engaged. The date, ceremony location, reception site, priest, and wedding party were the first items we took care of. Then, the next month or two was spent picking out tuxes, finding the wedding dress, and choosing all of our vendors for floral, catering, photography, and more. The most recent month leading up to the big day has been full of finalizing the guest count, hounding people for their RSVPs, smoothing out the schedule for the weekend’s events, and nailing down the ceremony details.
Now, with little more than a week to go, I’m finding myself with hardly anything left to do and a lot of time to just think about the wedding day. I’m so excited to say “I do,” but it’s crazy to imagine myself walking down the aisle, getting married, and becoming a wife! Never before have I put so much effort into a single day, and I’m told from others who are married that it will be a surreal experience that goes by in a flash. Hopefully I’m able to take it all in and enjoy every moment.
