Choosing the perfect music has been an almost yearlong task. There seems to be so many special moments the day of our wedding that need to be filled with just the mix of perfect tunes. My march down the aisle, our cocktail reception, and the father daughter dance. All of these amazing moments that need the right song to express how we feel.
My biggest helper, besides Nate, has been You Tube and a great bottle of wine. From the top 20 sappy love songs of all time, to the best lists of music to get your guests on the dance floor. When it comes to borrowing inspiration, You Tube has it all.
That being said, we are still narrowing down our final music choices. Since we are getting down to the wire, it might just be time to join a wine club and start to work on daily research. ;) The reception is where we are still sorting out the details. Our ceremony music is starting to shape up quite nicely!
Since our ceremony will be held at the Arboretum in Chaska, there is no official church organ or piano player. When we first chose the location, the music was the last thing on my mind. As we started to map out the details, I realized how important it was to me to have real music. Not a DJ, or an iPod (much to Nate's disappointment).
Thankfully, a client of mine referred me to the perfect person, a local musician named Lynn O'Brien. After spending some time researching her tunes, we were hooked. She is a solo artist, who is also part of a talented trio named "Hummingbirds." Her voice is amazing, and I know she will be just the perfect complement to our ceremony. Check out their video. Such a cool Minnesota song!
As a music therapist at a trauma center, she understands the power of great music. Reading about her career, and the impact she has had on people, makes me realize what a special addition she is to our ceremony. I want our day to feel so special, and to have our guests really feel the love between Nate and I. I know she will do an incredible job with our music.
