Ok, you might not be green with envy yet, but considering what our floral designs are going to look like, you might be.
Dave and I have been busy bees planning as much of our big day as we can before his wedding season kicked in and it’s been nothing short of a whirlwind. Aside from booking our date and venue, the other thing we knew we wanted to do immediately was get our florist booked. Planning a wedding and also working in the wedding industry does have its perks—one of them being that you end up having super, awesomely talented friends like Ashley Fox of Ashley Fox Designs.
Not only is Ashley one of the most kind and beautiful souls you will ever meet, she is also one insanely skilled floral designer. We’ve had the pleasure of working with her so many times and the love and sheer passion she pours into every event radiates in each design she creates. It’s no wonder she was the only floral designer on our list.
We trusted Ashley from the very start. Not only because she is a friend, but from the evidence we’ve seen in all her work, we just knew she would understand our vision like no one else. We met with her at our venue, the Solar Arts Building, and started talking about our vision for the day. Dave dubbed it best when he said “woodsy industrial.” Though that might sound like an oxymoron, it summed up our tastes exactly. I love the warmth and light of the Solar Arts space with its wood-grain floors and ceilings. Dave loves the industrial, exposed piping and bricks. We’ve been drawn to designs that weave these two opposites together as well as designs that bring the outdoors in with greenery over large blooms.
Ashley picked up on our style immediately. She began to layout a plan that blew us away filled with the lush and industrial style we had been dreaming of. The hope is to fill the space with heaps of bold greenery, light it with as many candles as we can find, and drape the ceiling with a living garland that the master florist herself will design. Seriously, you guys. I get butterflies just thinking out it! We left that day with the feeling that we always hoped we would: overflowing excitement! We knew finding vendors we trusted would be key, and even though we cheated a bit because we’re working with a dear friend, we couldn’t be more excited to work with Ashley. She is playing a huge part in turning our wedding dreams into a reality.
