This week marks the four-month countdown to our wedding day! Yes, it’s surreal, and makes it sound like it’s happening tomorrow, but it’s a good thing it’s not because there is plenty left to do. So what’s left for us to do now that the ceremony, reception, dress, photographer and DJ have been acquired? Quite a bit, as I’m told.
The other day I sat down with a good friend who helped me come up with a list of next steps in the wedding planning process based on a wedding timeline on Martha Stewart.
On that list:
- Reserve a hair stylist
- Find a makeup artist
- Get my gown altered
- Figure out what to serve for dessert
- Reserve flights and hotels for the honeymoon
- Invitations
Really, I probably should have already done a couple of these, so the next month will be busy. I’m aiming at finalizing hair and makeup in the next week, and then tackling invitations. I set up an alterations appointment later this month and a cake tasting as well. It may not have been my wisest move to schedule the tasting two days before alterations, but oh well. Live and let us eat cake, right?
Also, any recommendations on any of these remaining items is much appreciated. We’ve decided to stay within the U.S. for a honeymoon, but are still trying to nail down specifics. We’re looking for a place that offers adventure as well as a relaxing breather from the wedding madness. We don’t really see ourselves on a beach in Mexico, but then again, you never know.
So cheers to four months from now when we’ll officially be hitched, and cheers to savoring each day leading up it!
