I’ve always been a strong supporter of lapping up the whole wearing white aspect of being a bride. I was lucky that the night The Fiancé popped the question I happened to have a white dress stashed away in my suitcase (conveniently). Now, as I prepare for our first post-engagement celebration this weekend—our engagement party—I’ve been scouring the stores for white dresses to complete my look.
I think I've purchased and returned probably seven different dresses (this weather certainly isn't helping). Too summery. Now too wintery. Lace? No lace? White? Beige? Sexy? Sweet? The options are endless! And it doesn't help that I'm a generally indecisive person.
I recently fell in love with Kate Spade's Wedding Belle's (and whistles) collection. I happened to stumble upon a few of her dresses while I was shopping in Chicago a few weeks ago, and lucked out with a few looks that are both timeless and classic (perfect for showers with the MOG's friends!).
But though I love Kate's cute look, none of them were right for the look I was trying to pull off at the engagement party. Since this is essentially the first step in this whole year-long planning extravaganza, I wanted it to be perfectly me. I scoured online sites, hit up some of my favorite local boutiques, and I even went through some of my old staples.
Luckily, my mom also knows my style and earlier this week a cute Tibi shift lace dress arrived at my doorstep. I tried it on and it was perfect. Once I have pictures from the evening, I'll be sure to share.
Now my concern is this: If I struggled to find an engagement party dress , how difficult will it be for me to actually find the dress for the big day??
I'll know soon enough, as I"m hitting the stores this Friday for my first dress shopping experience. I'm excited, nervous, apprehensive, and excited again! I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes, but if anyone has any tips (aside from wear cute scivives and bring a strapless bra) I'm happy to hear it!
Happy shopping everyone!
