I just have to take a second to say that my fiancé, Sam, is amazing. Throughout the entire wedding planning process, he has helped with DIY projects, offered his opinions, and attended most vendor meetings (I let him skip out on the florist). But beyond that, he has taken a step back and let me plan the wedding of my dreams. Tux shopping, however, was one area where I wanted him to take the lead.
We wanted to make the process as easy—and affordable—as possible for our groomsmen. After evaluating a handful of rental companies in the Twin Cities, we chose Savvi at Ridgedale Center in Minnetonka. Not only are they located across the street from the hotel where our wedding party (and guests) will be staying, they also have hundreds of sister stores around the country, making it pretty simple for our Denver-based groomsmen to get measured and order their tuxes.
At first, we were leaning toward gray tuxedos, but felt that color might be a little too casual for our very formal evening wedding. Navy was out, since that’s the color my bridesmaids will be wearing, and I didn’t want them to be too matchy-matchy with the groomsmen. Classic black had always been my first choice, but, again, I feared it would clash with our navy bridesmaid dresses. However, thanks to a friend’s wedding we attended last summer, we realized the two colors actually work really well together—classic black it is!
The last time we rented a tux was for prom our senior year of high school, so needless to say, we felt a little clueless going into our appointment. Thankfully, Jill, the store manager at Savvi, was extremely helpful and walked us through the process step-by-step. Using a mannequin, she showed us each style one-by-one, allowing Sam to compare and narrow down his selection. We had our decision made within 30 minutes.
My handsome groom with his tux selection!
In addition to an online account that makes it easy to keep track of who’s ordered, my favorite thing about Savvi is that everything is included in their tux rental: pants, shirt, vest, jacket, bowtie, cufflinks, socks, shoes, and even the pocket squares. Not to mention, their customer service is fantastic (they've been named as a Diamond Award Winner multiple times)! They will even come to your wedding venue if there’s a last-minute emergency with the attire. I feel confident our guys will look very suave on October 29.
Now the last piece of the attire puzzle is helping my mom and mother-in-law choose their dresses!
