When Kurt presented me with my engagement ring last December, I truly believed it was the most beautiful piece of jewelry a girl could ever have the privilege of wearing. Today, I still maintain this stance, but have discovered something that is a close—very close—second.
Due to the heat this past weekend, we decided to pass on our Sunday tennis match and engage in air-conditioned activities instead. As we discussed our wedding “to-do” list, we thought it best to knock a big item off of the list, considering we are less than two months away from our big day. Admittedly, several of our incomplete tasks could be considered “big,” but we picked the most fun one to do—wedding bands! Shopping for bling together? What could be more fun!
While we both had ideas of what we wanted, we didn’t really know where to go or what exactly to look at. Having shopped many times at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Minnetonka, I remembered seeing a Shane Co. in the same complex. Figuring we would at least start our search there, we hopped in the car and set out to buy a few sparklers.
As I have mentioned several times before, shopping is on the same level of fun as a root canal. The thing that made this outing different was that I finally got to buy something special for Kurt. Knowing how thoughtful and detailed his engagement ring search was, I wanted to do the same for him and his wedding band. What made it easier, however, was the fact that he had a pretty solid vision of what he wanted—gold, simple, average width.
When we walked into Shane Co., we were immediately greeted by several eager—but not obnoxiously eager—sales people. After briefly explaining what we were in the market for, we were presented with a few options for Kurt to look at. He tried on several gold bands, but was drawn to a beautiful 5.5mm rose gold with a “comfort fit.” When he put it on his size 11.75 finger, he beamed almost as much as I did when he slid on my engagement ring for the first time. Seeing him this happy was something I will remember for a long time.
As for my mine, I chose an elegant half-carat band with 16 surrounding diamonds. It looks great with my engagement ring, and can’t wait to wear both! One more item crossed off our list—many more to go!
