Burlap has been making its way onto the scene, so when we heard Three Sons Signature Cuisine hosted an event featuring the rustic material, we called up office manager Chea Castro for some tips on how to add burlap to your big day.
1. Make it the focus: Centerpieces are the perfect opportunity to dress up your wedding with burlap. Add a rustic touch to your table by wrapping burlap around vases or candleholders, or opt for a more homemade feel by tying it around decorative mason jars (also a huge trend right now).
2. Pair it with lace: Traditional brides, this one’s for you. Although burlap offers plenty of texture and interest on its own, adding a little white lace to the material really makes it pop. Wedding invitations are the perfect place to combine traditional and rustic. Try layering your invitations with lace and burlap trim, or tie everything together with a burlap and lace bellyband.
3. Bring it to the table: Castro says one of the most popular ways to include burlap in weddings this season is to use it as a table accent. Burlap chair covers add a natural touch to your décor, while burlap cutlery cases and table runners are simple, yet chic.
4. Get creative: There are endless options when it comes to burlap. The fabric comes in different weights and weaves, and can be dyed, painted, cut, or sewn, making it the perfect material for DIY brides. Custom banners, table numbers, and burlap bouquets are just a few of the many ways you can craft a little country charm in to your décor.
