I’ve decided to put myself on a spending hiatus. Considering that in the coming months I have at least eight weddings to attend, I realized that my future spending sprees would be courtesy of a registry vis-à-vis theknot.com . . . such is life when you’re a twenty-something with a constant flow of friends who are ready for a life of wedded bliss.
I thought I had accepted the fate of my future finances, but when I hit Amanda Kautt’s l’atelier couture for an accessories trunk show, and I set my sights on the collection of Nelle handbags, I decided to take a hiatus from my hiatus.
I simply couldn’t say no to local designer Laura Nelli’s creation—a Midnight Cherub Clutch in purple with bronze and black accents. The silk charmeuse fit perfectly in my clutches as I wandered amongst the latest from Oscar, Vera, Carolina, and Elizabeth. The body of the purse was purple and ruched by hand. The plum silk charmeuse was then accented with four rows of pleated hand dyed silk ribbon in a deep bronze shade. The center panel was secured with a thick piece of black ribbon, creating a look that is elegant, trendy, and unique.
I reasoned with myself that the purchase was a necessary accoutrement, as it will match my Priscilla of Boston bridesmaid dress that I am scheduled to don this August.
Brides, take note: These bags are the perfect bridesmaid gift—and they are a lot more useful (and attractive) than a tiresome set of pearls. To see the complete collection, visit nellehandbags.com.
The headband bud might make the perfect accessory for my June wedding at Golden Valley Country Club. Hmmm . . . perhaps my hiatus will have to be put on hold until tomorrow—in the spirit of the wedding season, of course.
