Nadia Cakes has found cooking success in the Midwest since opening its current Maple Grove location in 2012, so much so that the bakery, which has roots in Palmdale, California, has decided to open a second Minnesota location in Woodbury come February 2015.
Owner and executive designer, Abby Jimenez, feels that Minnesota is the place for her to be. “Our customers are the best,” she says. “They’re fun and really supportive. We already have 110,000 fans on Facebook. They understand the value of what we do: Everything is baked fresh and from scratch with hand-painted, hand-done fondant."
The Woodbury location will not only be an expansion for Nadia Cakes, but an opportunity for the company to introduce new items, such as Sebastian Joe’s ice cream, specialty cakes, an expanded line of bakery items, and a new line of desserts. In addition, this delectable destination will continue to serve as a premier bakery for weddings, offering cake tastings and full-service wedding consultations.
Jimenez has some simple advice for couples looking for a Nadia Cakes original: book early. “Every cake that we do is meticulously created by the designer. The person that you sit down with during your consultation is the same person who bakes, decorates, and delivers your cake,” she says. “Everything is handled on such an intimate, one-on-one basis with our team."
The new store is set to open February 1, but you can catch a preview of what’s to come by watching Woodbury’s soon-to-be general manager Erin Campbell, an accomplished chocolatier and cake designer, whipping up her best for the Food Network’s Holiday Baking Championship, airing Sundays at 8 p.m.
