Today is my birthday, and in honor of that, I decided to write about what's on my mind most: cakes.
In our most recent issue of Mpls.St.Paul Weddings Magazine, we showcased some AMAZING colorful creations from local bakers around town. And while I had the pleasure of tasting, er, talking with them about their cakes, one trend that kept coming up was texture.
Brides today are looking to include a fabric-like texture on their cake, which might also match their linens, invites, or dress. If you're looking to add a little umph to your cake, but aren't sure about bright, bold colors, texture is a lovely way to add a trendy element without pushing the envelope too far. And, if you're like me and want everything to coordinate (right down to the envelope liner of the save-the-date), adding texture to your cake is the perfect way to make your cake work with the rest of your decor.
The best part? It'll be delicious no matter what you do.
