Bethany Nelson used to paint murals mostly for kid's rooms and nurseries, leaving a trail of soda pop everywhere she went (she painted under the name "Soda Pop Shop"). Now, she takes her bubbly painting style to a completely different place, but maintains her fun cartoon-y characters in her new pursuit: Glassware.
Quite a change, you could say, but Bethany—now painting under the name the Fizzy Artist—is having a wonderful time creating caricatures of happy couples and their bridal parties. Her Etsy shop features her paintings on wine glasses, beer glasses, martini glasses, and scotch tumblers. She uses enamel paint, specifically made for glassware before baking her creations in the oven to set them.
Her Etsy shop is growing in popularity. Nelson says she has clients all the way from Australia and South America asking for shipments. Each design is completely unique and handmade. Once you place an order (give her at least two months—she makes about 100 glasses a week and 300-400 a month), just send Nelson a picture of your bridal party and give her a few choice details about each bridesmaid and groomsman. Does the best man have a funny tattoo? Details like that make each glass unique.
Gift them to your bridal party for a unique keepsake, or give them to the bride and groom for their first toast. Cartoon-ish and fun, the images make for great conversation-starters.
