Before you hit the boutiques in search of the dress of your dreams, take some cues from the newest trends to hit the bridal scene. This season's assortment of frocks that made the way down the runway were a bit racier than usual, so if any of these stunners catch your eye, you may want to reconsider that big church wedding. Happy shopping!
1. Lingerie-Inspired Gowns.
If critics thought Vera Wang pushed the envelope with her Spring collection, this grouping was even edgier. Her use of ultrathin tulle all but exposed the bride's naked outlines, offering a truly seductive alternative to the bride looking for a "sexy" dress. Reem Acra also pushed the racy boundaries, introducing a strapless gown, where its lacy full skirt reveals a hint of the bride's legs.
2. A bold shoulder.
Monique Lhuillier and Inbal Dror both showed gowns with a bold off-the-shoulder silhouette that provided a sophisticated, yet baring alternative to the traditional strapless gown. Meanwhile, Houghton presented a more Bohemian off-the-shoulder look, offering a modern '70s look perfect for the more laid back bride.
Gowns from Marchesa and Carolina Herrera had their own built-in bling, adding a very intentional sparkle to their collections. Marchesa upped the glitzy ante by using opulent bejeweled bodies and metallic embroidery to show just how skillful their team of designers can be, while Carolina Herrera showcased Chantilly lace gowns sprayed with crystals and pearls, allowing resplendent metallic accents be a showstopping alternative to jewelery.
