By Linden Wilson Jaisa Zuraff, owner of Bride to Be Consignment, calls her business a "one-stop shop," the ideal place for brides, other wedding party members, girls in pageants, and even those attending an upcoming gala to find everything from dresses, to decorations, to candles and cake toppers.
The store stocks more than 500 wedding dresses, half of which are brand new, as well as more than 2,000 formal wear dresses. Bride to Be sells these, along with many other items (party supplies, flowers, centerpieces, etc.), and gives the seller 50 percent of the sale price when his or her item is sold. They are on consignment for 90 days: 60 days at full price and 30 at half price, before becoming property of the store when the consignment period ends.
Bride to Be will celebrate one year of business this January and accepts brand new, used, and homemade items. "It's so much fun to see certain things come in and out of the store," Jaisa says, describing some pretty red hurricane vases she recently came across again. She also explains that an advantage of the store is that they are able to carry every dress brand that comes through the door, unlike some boutiques that only offer two or three brands.
