There’s not much to say about Cocoa & Fig that hasn’t already been said. If you’ve ever tasted a morsel from its kitchen, you know the delicious treats are mind-blowing. So what else is there to know? Well, it recently opened a second location. Back in August, unbeknownst to the world, Cocoa & Fig began construction in Edina.
“We had so much going on in the summer, so it was our little secret for a while,” says co-owner Laurie Pyle.
Now, with construction wrapped up, the soft opening behind them, and the grand opening only a day away, the 3-year-old boutique bakeshop and dessert catering company is ready to open its second set of doors.
So why Edina? With its production kitchen in Shakopee and a retail location in downtown Minneapolis's Gaviidae Common, Cocoa & Fig wanted to find a middle ground.
“Our other location is just not as easily accessible unless you’re already downtown,” Pyle says. “We were also having brides come to our production kitchen in Shakopee for consultations, which is a little far for some people. So we listened, and I think it’s going to be wonderful.”
The Edina location will have all the Cocoa & Fig favorites, plus more. Think three-layer cakes, pies during Thanksgiving, and all those tiny and delicious macarons and cake pops. Moving to a suburban location also has some incidental perks: a larger space, in-store seating, a conference room for consultations, and free parking.
The grand opening is scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 26, but if you don’t move quickly, that free parking lot will fill up fast because, let’s be honest, we know we aren't the only ones with a sweet tooth for Cocoa & Fig.
