Clouds of buttercream floating above lemon chiffon cupcakes. Creamy ganache nestled between pink macarons. Peanut butter cookies filled with buttercream and salted caramel drizzle. Hopkins just got a whole lot sweeter, and local brides a whole lot happier, with Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe frosting Mainstreet. Amy Brace’s unparalleled wedding cakes and gourmet treats have graced the dessert bar of many a satisfied bride. Thankfully for you brides-to-be, she’s now made herself much more accessible.
Amy opened her doors on June 14, full of excitement as she welcomed a long line of customers into her brand-new shop. While Amy might be new to Mainstreet, she’s been in the dessert business for more than two years. Her passion for sweet treats rose steadily from childhood and bubbled over when the show Cupcake Wars inspired her in 2011. In 2014, she started her business. She filled custom orders for cakes, cupcakes, macarons, and more gourmet goodness out of her own kitchen, even teaching classes. As her business grew with weddings, birthday parties, and more, she realized it was time for a change. “It was either keep doing it out of my home and take fewer orders, or take the leap and open a shop,” Amy says.
The storefront will bring some major changes to the Cupcake Shoppe. In the new space, Amy serves house-brewed coffee to her customers as well as root beer on tap. She’s even included a kids’ area to make the shop family-friendly. Not only will she be able to fill more orders and serve a wider variety of treats, but she has big ideas for events and classes at the shop. She will continue with her macaron classes (can you say, bachelorette party?!) and may even add a kids’ class. Amy also has plans for a ladies’ wine and cupcake night, as well as a couples’ night where she can show curious customers how to pair beer with cupcakes. Your groom will certainly enjoy that.
Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe has been opened to a world of possibilities with its first storefront location. “It’s been a wild ride, and I still love it,” the shop owner says. “I love seeing the looks on people’s faces, seeing the kids playing, people laughing. That’s the best part.”
