About Us

We went to high school and college together and oddly enough we didn’t actually start dating until senior year of college when Chris asked me out on a date while camping in the Colorado mountains with some friends. We had known each other for about six years previously, so when he asked me out I was a little surprised. But what began as surprise quickly became the best thing that ever happened to me. I fell hard and fast for the guy who had been in front of me for years. It’s cheesy, but the best thing about it is that he’s my best friend. It’s a little frustrating, though, when you get into a disagreement with your fiancé, and all you want to do is call your best friend to talk through it. At least with a family plan we won’t run out of minutes.

Engagement Story

Total shocker! After work, Chris and I went out for a run around Lake Harriet. Half way around the lake, I started telling Chris about a nightmare I had the night before. It had woken me up in a sweat in the middle of the night and shocked me at its lucidity.

It was about our wedding day. In the dream Chris and were woken up one morning, told it was our wedding day, and thrust into a series of events that neither of us had planned, been a part of, or necessarily enjoyed (including Cinderella-style carriage rides). At one point in the dream, walking down the aisle, with tiny rubies thrown at us, and a tiara placed on my head, I just refused. “I’m not getting married like this.”

It was at this point that Chris pointed to a bench near the sailboats, and suggested we sit down. We sat and watched the sunset over the lake. “That won’t happen to us,” he assured me. “I won’t let it.” That’s when he grabbed my hand, got on his knee, and well, I mean if you don’t know what’s coming next, you should just stop reading. He had the ring box with him in his shorts pocket (gutsy) and had tried to wait until no passersby were around. It worked to an extent, but proposals are pretty obvious so about two seconds later a couple of women ran up to us and insisted they take our picture. We will have that sweaty, shocked, and happy-looking picture forever, thanks to those random ladies.

The Big Day

Basically we’re both just excited to start our lives together. We hope it will be a day our family and friends will enjoy, and that doesn’t include any Cinderella-esque carriages. For me the little things like seeing Chris, walking down the aisle, and dancing with my dad are the most important. Everything else will be cherries on top of the massive cookie I plan to eat at the reception!
