An epic week at Hazeltine National Golf Club, which saw Team USA bring home its first Ryder Cup since 2008, will end like most things do in America: with a 1-day clearance sale.
The Ryder Cup Shops will open its mammoth doors to the public today, 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. All remaining merchandise will be 50 percent off. (No word on additional discounts for Team Europe T-shirts.)
This Ryder Cup boasted the largest store ever for the tournament, and it paid off: senior director of merchandising Michael Quirk reports the highest total merchandise sales in Ryder Cup history. Still, when you're stocking 49,000 square feet of retail space with hundreds of thousands of hats, golf towels, and anything else the words Ryder Cup will fit on, there's bound to be overstock. If the sale was planned, however, officials kept it under wraps until after the tournament. (Better for selling those $89.50 Ralph Lauren polos at full price.)
More good news: no need to park remotely if you go today. Free parking is available across the street from Chaska High School, 720 Pioneer Trail – Gate C1.
