One Warehouse District destination raises the bar for stylish shopping—and living.
Every now and then a store opens that makes you proud to shop in the Twin Cities. The new, combined ID-Inside Design and martinpatrick3 is just that space—where you not only want to buy everything in sight, but rise to its level and live a more stylish life.
Of course, we’d expect nothing less from owner and interior designer Greg Walsh, whose Walsh Design Group has offices behind the retail area. Not a detail has been overlooked, from the desk accessories displayed in an archway filled floor to ceiling with books, to the fitting room wallpapered with covers of vintage men’s magazines.
“From the entry, we wanted to speak about design,” Walsh says. A shopper’s first impression is oversized vases against dramatic black patterned wallpaper. It will change every few months. Retail is divided into two sides. To the left, the sleek white ID showroom, now the Twin Cities resource for Ligne Roset contemporary furniture. To the right, the martinpatrick3 men’s store has a classic gentleman’s touch. There are distinct areas for apothecary, leather goods, accessories, footwear, and a growing assortment of apparel including brands such as Fred Perry, J.W. Brine, and Parke & Ronen. “We want people to see the juxtaposition of classic and modern aesthetics,” Walsh says.
The only thing missing is women’s retail—a request Walsh hears often. “Don’t ask me about it for a year,” he says with a laugh. One thing’s certain: The surprises have only just begun. “There’s got to be theater to retailing,” Walsh says. “You’ve got to wow them.” 212 3rd Ave. N., Mpls., 612-746-5329, martinpatrick3.com, id-insidedesign.com
