Twin Cities men are apparently so eager for fitted wovens, slim jeans and luxurious after shave that they're breaking down the walls at martinpatrick3. Literally. The North Loop fine men's store, which first dipped an oxford brogue into apparel just over a year ago, is already planning a major expansion. Owner Greg Walsh, who houses his design business and home store ID/Inside Design under the same roof at 212 Third Ave. N., will take over the space next door to the west when the Institute of Production & Recording moves out after the school year. Martinpatrick3 will spill into the current ID space and the added 1,000 square feet will go to home furnishings, with added selection. Some interior walls are also coming down to bring into view the Walsh Design Group studio, which has benefited from having the meticulously styled stores as a calling card. This expansion will also allow for more vignettes within the store devoted to popular departments, like apothecary. Walsh expects to break through in July, and is counting on construction to be complete in time for fall arrivals.
