In celebration of the Minneapolis Institute of Art's 100th birthday year, the museum, in partnership with Mall of America, commissioned five renowned contemporary artists to design limited edition t-shirts that go on sale Thursday evening at 7 p.m. The Artist Statements T-Shirt Project is part of the museum's commitment to bring art outside the museum, MIA chief engagement officer Kristin Prestegaard says.
Participating artists are Kota Ezawa, Jenny Holzer, Chris Larson, David Rathman, and Alec Soth. The shirts, $25 each, will be available in limited supply at the Store at MIA and an MOA pop up in the southeast court. They're also available online.
The MOA-MIA partnership will continue throughout the year, the mall says, with digital art installations at the mall facilitated by the MIA, programming for kids, and a strong MIA presence at the opening of the new MOA grand front entrance later this year.
