Interior of Spruce Flowers & Home in Edina, MN
On the heels of longtime gift store Shop in the City leaving 48th and Chicago, Spruce Flowers & Home has decided to close its original storefront at that south Minneapolis corner. Spruce's 50th & France store will serve as its retail hub. Meanwhile, owner Amy Backman is looking for a design studio where her creative team will be able to focus on Spruce's growing delivery, wedding and event business. Backman says the future studio, which she hopes to open in early 2017, will also be used for classes and private parties.
"We have loved every minute of being open at Chicago Avenue and are so appreciative of the neighborhood we have served and gotten to know on a personal level throughout the years," says Backman, who opened Spruce as a "new fashioned" flower shop seven years ago. The Chicago Avenue space will be used as a design studio until Backman secures a new location.
"It will be a sad day for us to lock up for the last time at Chicago Avenue, but we are looking forward to this new chapter for Spruce. And hey, our Edina location is a quick 15 minute trip down 50th. And, we deliver."
