The parade of celebrities continues at the new Verizon store at Mall of America. Fox Sports broadcaster Erin Andrews stopped by on Thursday, on her way to Lambeau Field where she’ll be covering the Vikings-Packers game on Sunday. MplsStPaul Magazine’s Hayley Schnell (who could pass for Andrews little sister and would love to follow in her footsteps—dancing too?) was at MOA to talk to Andrews about everything from Dancing with the Stars to the Super Bowl.
Coolest thing you saw in the store?
I love the ‘Get Fit’ stuff, but the stuff that controls your house, like security and lights, was awesome. I was thinking of getting that as a Christmas present for my boyfriend. We’re both on the road so much; it’d be great to see if someone left a light on–which I always do and get lectured when I get home. It doesn’t matter what phone you have; you just need to have the appliances they sell here at Verizon.
Since you’re constantly on the go, what’s your workout schedule?
It’s really difficult. I try to have it in my mind that I want to work out every single day. Days like today, I know it’s not going to happen, so I don’t have a choice–I have to work out tomorrow. I can’t really be a person who does three days on, three days off because I get moody and crabby. I’d rather just work out all the time.
I’m a Physique 57 girl. I love the way it’s transformed my body. They have these online workouts, and I started with those last year when I was away for the World Series. They’re amazing. I did them this year as well. I’m still sweating and all nasty after it, so that makes me feel like I actually did a workout. It’s a lot of core, thighs, rear-end, weights, and planking.
Do you still dance? In the kitchen!
No, but I would love to because that was the most weight I think I’ve ever lost in my entire life. I looked like a 12-year-old boy.
Are you watching the current season of Dancing with the Stars?
I haven’t seen it. I know Max came back this past week to judge. I was texting him and tweeting him good luck. I get to see it every now and then, but it’s hard during football season.
What other big sporting events are you looking forward to this year?
The Super Bowl. I’ll be on the sidelines this year because FOX has it. It’ll be my first time ever covering the Super Bowl. It’ll be the biggest thing I’ve done in my career, especially with this year being in New York City. We don’t know what we’re going to get weather-wise. They’re calling it the biggest, boldest, coldest Super Bowl ever.
What’s been your favorite event to cover thus far?
The World Series this past year. I was born and raised a Red Sox fan. My dad and grandpa are huge Red Sox fans. My grandpa never got to see them win a World Series. I got to bring my dad to Game Six and got him down the field and took pictures with him by The Green Monster. Just to see the smile on my dad’s face is one of those things … I look at the pictures now and my eyes tear up. It’ll forever be one of the most amazing moments of my life.
Okay, big question: Who should be the Vikings’ starting quarterback?
Leslie Frazier says it’s Christian Ponder, right? We’ll see how he does at Lambeau this weekend. I’ll trust the head coach.
