The corner of 48th & Chicago in South Minneapolis took a big step toward destination neighborhood shopping this week with the arrival of Primp boutique. This is the fourth Twin Cities location for the locally owned retailer, which is quickly evolving into a power player on the local scene, drawing crowds at all corners of town for its "cheap chic" trend-driven fashion. At 48th & Chicago, Primp joins Spruce Flowers & Home and Shop in the City as well as salons and restaurants including Turtle Bread—suddenly making this a great choice for an afternoon outing.
Even as the doors are opening at 48th & Chicago, Primp has more news: a fifth location is already in the works, in downtown Excelsior. Primp is taking the old Heritage II space at the corner of Water and Lake streets for its biggest location yet—and a major undertaking at that: Primp owners Michele Henry Gudmundson and Wesley Uthus say the space has been untoched for nearly 25 years. Primp expects to open in Excelsior in early May.
