Minnesota Children's Museum is now open for play at Mall of America—third level, north side.
The pop-up museum will be open throughout the renovation and expansion of the main museum building in St. Paul. It is expected to operate at MOA through January 2017.
The 4,400-square-foot pop-up museum features two longstanding exhibits: Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorites and Ball-o-Rama. Storyland will be on display through January and Ball-o-Rama is expected to stay by popular demand, museum spokeswoman Sara Kerr says. The design of the open space is not elaborate, but, then, it doesn't need to be: there are plenty of interactive elements to keep young visitors engaged.
The museum at the mall is free for Children's Museum members, and $7.95 for everyone else, ages 1 to 101 (babies get in free). The pop up musuem will be open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Stop by saturday for grand opening festivities, including a paint-your-face station, photo ops with Spot from the Where's Spot series, and jump rope performances in Sears Court at 10 a.m. and noon.
