In Magazineland, we're finishing up the February issue, which will include a story on the Twin Cities paper renaissance. February seems like a good time to talk about cards and handwritten notes, but the timing of it has had me in paper stores this week, and I've got to say, I'm finding plenty of cause to be merry and gift paper goods.
I already told you about Greater Goods, where I picked up Worker B gifts along with cards, and Brown Ink Paper Goods—my new favorite thing is to say Yay to absolutely everyone, and I want to tie these confetti gift tags on absolutely everything. Meanwhile, if there's any hope of my getting a photo card out before year's end, it will be due to the magic that is Red Stamp.
But let's not forget the queen of letterpress in Minneapolis: Lunalux. Every visit, I am reminded how lucky we are to have so many creatives in this city. They were literally pulling these "Minne-snow-ta" cards off the letterpress when I arrived, and getting ready for Stationery Saturday (Dec. 14). It's a great way to kick off what is sure to be a hectic holiday shopping weekend. Enjoy coffee and cookies while watching your personalized letterpress stationery be printed on the spot. This week, choose from three fonts to be printed in brown ink on blank natural white flats. A set of 10 is $34; additional cards are $3 each. Get it all beautifully wrapped for $3. 1618 Harmon Place, Mpls., 612-373-0526
