Goosebumps! Every now and then, a new store nails it, right out of the gate, and that is Pharmacie, the contemporary home and gift store at 28th and Lyndale in South Minneapolis. The warm corner space is filled with design objects large and small, from vintage Herman Miller chairs to colorful travel accessories, cool canvas bags, and apothecary items. Both space, and merchandise balance old and new, with contemporary sofas in front of a floor-to-ceiling wall image of an old fashioned pharmacy to set the tone.
It feels like Pharmacie came out of nowhere, but it’s actually been in the works for a couple of years, and clearly, the owners know what they are doing. That should come as no surprise—they are Roger Barrett, an exhibit designer for the Science Museum of Minnesota, and Sam Beberg the owner of breakfast spot Hot Plate. Prescription shopping, for sure. 2743 Lyndale Ave. S., Mpls., 612-200-9633
