When you've got your own police station, amusement park, chapel, and aquarium, you can create your own Fashion Week. Mall of America is doing just that for the first time this fall, with an ambitious lineup of events that merge fashion and art.
The Fall Art + Style Series leaves the station tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept. 30)—literally. MOA teamed up with the Airport Foundation MSP, Made Here Exhibitions, and the Hennepin Theatre District to stage an on-the-go fashion show on the METRO Blue line. It starts just before noon at Mall of America station and travels downtown with several stops along the way where models will hop off the train and walk the platform.
Subsequent events will take place at the mall. On Friday, abstract artist Robin Ann Meyer demonstrates her creation of abstract art while practicing yoga in the Rotunda from 3 to 7 p.m. Free People will host a Flowers x Fashion event on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The events culminate with a Project Runway fashion show in the Rotunda on Friday, Oct. 9 featuring designers Korto Momolu, Irina Shabayeva, Christopher Straub, Peach Carr and Michael Costello.
