Charming Excelsior beauty boutique La Petite Parfumerie is packing up its Cire Trudon candles and Frederic Malle colognes and heading to Southdale Center. It's an unlikely locale for the exclusive shop, which offers French fragrance brands that you'd otherwise have to shop Bergdorf Goodman or Barneys New York to buy. But owner Diane Wissink, who started La Petite Parfumerie in Wayzata and then moved to downtown Excelsior, says her store has always been a destination, and Edina is a more central location.
La Petite Parfumerie will be located right outside the Macy's cosmetics department on the second floor of the mall. As part of the move, Wissink plans to downsize by dropping makeup and bath and body products. At Southdale, La Petite Parfumerie will focus on fragrance for body and home.
A small amount of remaining product from lines that are being discontinued is now 40 percent off at the Excelsior store. The sale table includes Fresh, Nest and Lafco. Select display pieces, including French antiques, are also on sale. La Petite Parfumerie's last day in Excelsior will be May 28. The boutique is expected to open at Southdale by August.
