An indie shop specializing in vintage furniture and artisan goods is not what you expect to find at a suburban mall, and that’s why Piccadilly Prairie owner Lacey Brooker liked the idea.
After five years at 50th and Xerxes in South Minneapolis, she’d outgrown her location and decided to make the move just this month to Southdale Center in Edina.
“All of our regular customers come to Southdale at some point, even if they’re not mall people,” Brooker says. “And we’re getting a lot of exposure to people who never would have come in.”
Located on the second level of the center court, the new Piccadilly Prairie is a charming respite from chain stores, featuring vintage furniture, artwork, and artisan made gifts and home accents.
“The longer I’m here, the more I’m realizing there are small businesses tucked within the mall I had never eve noticed or thought about —service businesses, restaurants,” Brooker says. “It’s nice to have the mix of national with local. “
After the holidays, Piccadilly will continue its tradition of holding a flea market event in January. piccadillyprairie.com
