San Francisco-based hat maker Goorin Brothers plans to hang its fedoras...and Gatsbies and straws and newsboy caps in Uptown, Minneapolis. The Uptown Neighborhood News reports the hat store will be located in the same building as the Uptown Theater at Hennepin and Lagoon avenues. The Goorin brand dates back to 1895 when master craftsman Cassel Goorin sold his first hat off a horse cart in Pittsburgh. Now led by Cassel's great grandson, Goorin Bros. has two dozen stores from San Francisco to New York, and is the authentic embodiment of the heritage-is-hip vibe that has become so coveted in retail. An opening date has not yet been announced, but Goorin Bros. sent me a tweet Tuesday that said, "See you soon!"
