Minny & Paul gift box
Everything is better in a box these days. We’ve talked (and talked and talked) about subscription services—from the big kahunas like Birchbox to the Minnesota-based, including Evereve’s Trendsend and Lewk. But the latest trend in filling boxes: locally made goods. Two new Twin Cities start-ups are moving away from subscriptions and simply offering an easy way to send the ultimate Minnesota-made gifts for every occasion.
Minny & Paul launched just yesterday with four occasion-themed boxes: hostess, pampering, bridesmaid, and a mini-box. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, starting with the handcrafted wooden keepsake box made locally by WAAM industries with a top that features the sweet and clean Minny & Paul logo on one side, but can be flipped over if you prefer. The products inside each box are both useful and high design, from Willful’s mini planters to a coin purse by Ashley Mary Art. Not only are some of the Twin Cities hottest makers featured, a few have teamed up with founder Laura Waldman to create exclusive products for Minny & Paul. Custom and corporate boxes are also available. Prices range from $48 for the mini to $112 for bridesmaid, and that includes shipping.
MN Box takes a different approach, tailoring its boxes to customers based on a short survey. Boxes are designed to surprise, with products ranging from art to apparel; snacks to books. They, too, are tapping talented local makers. For a bride who was into craft beer and lake living, MN Box founder Tari Johnson packed her box with a Josie & Leo blanket, Larissa Loden necklace, Dangerous Man Brewery beanie and $15 gift card so she can try it out, The Erickson's CD and Isadore Nuts. MN Box offers individual orders, or for the gift that keeps giving, try a 3 to 12-month subscription. Boxes come at $50, $75, $100, and $1,000 price points. Five percent of every purchase goes to Minnesota charities. The first quarter, MN Box is giving to the St. Louis Park Emergency Program.
