Isabel Marant’s highly anticipated capsule collection for H&M launches tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 14, at 8 a.m. And for the first time ever, H&M is sharing the goods with the Twin Cities. The collection will be available at the Mall of America H&M store.
For the Twin Cities, this is both an opportunity and a challenge. Finally, H&M is bringing its A-game. It’s always mystified me why you would have a store at Mall of America—international tourist destination, visited by 42 million annually—and not showcase your best stuff. But now that they are giving us a shot, we’ve got to represent.
If Marant Pour H&M doesn’t sell well (meaning, sell out before 10 a.m.), we might not get the next designer collaboration. In Chicago and New York, fashion fans have been known to camp out for H&M’s big designer lines. Will Twin Cities shoppers follow suit? Doors to MOA will open at 6 a.m. (use the mall entrance on the west side, between Nordstrom and Macy’s). If ever there was a collection worth camping out for, this could be it. Think quintessential Marant: masculine tailoring, strong shoulders, loose blouses, airy dresses, and plenty of free spirited embellishment. Beyond womenswear, Marant has created styles specifically for teens, and for the first time, menswear. The collection also includes boho accessories, boots, and the essential Parisian pumps.
