It’s generally a compliment when a boutique owner gets asked why her store is not in the North Loop. It means shoppers see that mix of high design space and well crafted goods that is supremely tied to being cool these days—and in this town, a North Loop address instantly conveys that.
Forage Modern Workshop in Longfellow and Idun in St. Paul are two independent retailers accustomed to the North Loop question. Sometimes holiday wishes do come true: the two have teamed up for a holiday pop-up that will run the next two weekends. There’s a pop-up party Friday, Dec. 11 from 5-8 p.m. with music, beer, and snacks to go along with the shopping.
Both stores have brought a sampling of their stellar (and not inexpensive) goods to the North Loop—jewelry, bags, ceramics, scarves, and apparel. It’s a great introduction to two shining stars, and convenient shopping for downtown Minneapolis workers and dwellers. But after the holidays, do pay them both a visit in their native environs. Because one of the best things about the Twin Cities retail scene is that it isn’t all concentrated in just one neighborhood!
