Faribault Woolen Mill will give what it gets this holiday season. The 150-year-old Minnesota wool mill is launching BlanketMN, a buy one, give one donation program for the holidays to benefit homeless and transitional families and individuals throughout the state. Faribault will donate a blanket, throw or scarf for every one sold at faribaultmill.com beginning Thursday, Nov. 12 and running through December, or until 2,300 items have been given away. Faribault is partnering with Minnesota’s Office to Prevent and End Homelessness to connect with community and faith-based organizations serving people in need.
This program comes just a week after another Minnesota company, Woodchuck, announced a buy one, plant one initiative to plant a tree for every wood product sold.
Meanwhile, mark your calendar for pre-Black Friday deals from Faribault. The company is planning a one-day Holiday Overstock Sale at its mill on the Cannon River. Thousands of products will be deeply discounted, just in time for shoppers to get a jump on holiday gifts: throws for $15 to $45, and a selection of blankets and accessories at prices the company promises are its lowest ever. The discounted items are from last season, but unlike the popular Faribault tent sale, which features slightly imperfect goods, the Holiday Overstock Sale will be all “first quality” merchandise. The sale is Saturday, Nov. 21 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Faribault Woolen Mill, 1500 Northwest Second Ave., Faribault, Minn.
