"What are the coolest jeans right now?" I asked Stephanie Morrissey when I visited her eponymous Highland Park boutique yesterday. Without missing a beat, she lifted her sweater to reveal the high rise on her James skinny jeans. "They're the new mom jeans," declared this intrinsically chic mother of two. "The high rise holds it all in!"
Stephanie's boutique doesn't have the largest selection of denim in town. There was even a time, a few years ago, when jeans had become so pervasive that Morrissey backed off, in hopes of wooing women into dresses. It worked--Stephanie's is known for its sophisticated pieces, both for every day and special occasion. But even Morrissey can't give up denim.
What you'll find on her shelves is an expertly edited selection of some of the most fashionable brands, and their best fitting styles. For winter, it was reversible, wax coated denim by Bluelab. This spring, it's silk jeans by Genetic Denim. Yep, silk. It's light and flexible and perfectly suited to be a tailored alternative to harem pants.
See for yourself this Friday, March 16 during a Genetic Denim trunk show at Stephanie's. Be among the first to preview and pre-order Genetic's fall 2012 collection, at 15 percent off. And get 30 percent off spring styles, with an extra 10 percent off when you donate a a pair of gently worn jeans for charity. Plus, new spring merchandise throughout the store will be 15 percent off Friday only. The store will be open late, until 8 p.m.
