It’s hard to get a mad at your kid for doing something industrious, imaginative and non-electronic like building a fort, but when it involves turning your best living room chairs on their sides and covering the entire seating area with every mismatched sheet and blanket in the house, a mother is compelled—after three days of non-stop “campouts” and the discovery of Cheez-It crumbs and a box of Sharpies (on my brand new rug!)—to intervene. If only we had considered the new Senn & Sons Cozy Campers collection, perhaps the child and I could have reached a compromise that did not involve Total Fort Destruction and a few tears. Not saying whose.
Twin Cities-based designer Kimberly Senn’s new campfire inspired collection of blankets and decorative pillows, as well as teething rings, burp cloths, and gift sets, strikes that happy balance of cozy enough for kids, and cute enough for parents. With a nod to the northern wilderness, the products feature outdoorsy motifs and creatures from the woods in a bright color palette and super-soft fabrics.

See for yourself this weekend when Senn & Sons pops up at Ridgedale Center this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3-4. Look for the kiosk on the second floor, overlooking center court. Cozy Campers products sell for $12-$79. A selection of Senn & Son’s classic nursery art prints will also be for sale, at 50 percent off.
