Monday, April 13 is Aveda's annual Earth Month Cut-a-Thon to raise money to protect water around the globe. Bang trims are $5, haircuts are $10, color is $25, wax or tint is $5, and all proceeds support clean water locally through Audubon Minnesota. The event, part of a global effort for the Blaine-based beauty company, runs from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Aveda Institute, 400 Central Ave S.E., Mpls. Call head (612-331-1400), appointments may still be available.
If you can't make it for a cut, you can support the cause by purchasing Aveda's Light the Way candle, now available for $12 wherever Aveda products are sold. Aveda donates 100 percent of the purchase price to Global Greengrants Fund, an organization that channels grants to gropus working on environmental problems. Since 2006, Aveda has raised $9 million through sales of its Light the Way candle.
