Opportunities abound to shop local and unique this holiday season. Tonight is the Ruckus Holiday Sale opening reception featuring 25 Twin Cities artists selling new paintings, handmade prints, pottery, and furniture. It's your chance to meet the artists and shop the online Ruckus Art Shop in person. The Ruckus mission is to take the intimidation out of art shopping and connect people with artists in their own city. The event is a cool, cultural way to kick off your Saturday night. If you can't make it, be sure to check out the website, where you can shop around the clock. Dec. 7, 6 to 9 p.m. Waterbury Building, 1121 Jackson St NE #117, Mpls.
Other events on my radar today:
A Mano Holiday Gift Pop Up at Forage Modern Workshop: Shop the latest ceramics, jewelry and more from A Mano, a cool online store featuring goods from artists around the world, curated by Minneapolis photographer Louisa Podlich. Sat.-Sun., 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. 4023 E. Lake St., Mpls
Christopher Straub at Papyrus MOA: Our favorite Project Runway alum Christopher Straub is at his best when challenged to make clothes out of unlikely materials. See his paper dress creations on live models, and in the windows of Papyrus at Mall of America, and meet the charming designer himself. Saturday, Dec. 7, 3 p.m. More details here.
