Blast Blow Dry Bar signed a deal to open at Mall of America. This will be the third Twin Cities location for Blast, and the first blow dry bar for MOA.
"We chose MOA because it is such a huge part of the Twin Cities and it is such a great opportunity to gain wider recognition," says Kristin Neafus, co-owner of Blast, which also has locations at Shops at West End in St. Louis Park and the Aloft Hotel downtown Minneapolis. "I’ve been shopping MOA since its opening day. We think we will add a service to the MOA experience that can enhance the shopping experience for women. A nice way to start off the shopping day or to pamper yourself, during or after."
The get-pretty quick blow dry bar concept which is sweeping the nation—five dedicated blow dry bars have opened this year in the Twin Cities alone...even Rachel Zoe is getting in on the action, planning one for NYC—seems a perfect fit for MOA, where it's tough for a salon to develop a devoted clientele, given the size of the mall, and the high level of tourist traffic. Blow dry bars are less about the stylist/client relationship, and all about gorgeous hair in under an hour, for $35. Blast will be located on the first floor, south side. A March opening is planned.
