Dr. Craig Vine completed his undergraduate degree at Luther College and medical school at the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Minnesota. He is board certified in psychiatry. He has been in practice for 22 years. He practices at the University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview where he does Electro-convulsive Therapy (ECT) and consults to the Partial Hospital Program. He is medical director at Psych Recovery, Inc. in St. Paul. He specializes in depression and psychopharmacology.
Psych Recovery, Inc. provides comprehensive mental health services for adults, adolescents and children, TMS therapy, individual and family psychotherapy, and psychological testing for all ages. We offer both the Solveig Intensive Outpatient Program and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Dr. Vine offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), which is a safe, effective, innovative FDA approved therapy for the treatment of Major Depression. Using highly focused, MRI strength magnetic pulses, TMS activates specific regions of the brain which regulate mood.
TMS uses the same strength of magnetic fields as MRIs, which have been used in tens of millions of patients around the world. It is a short outpatient procedure performed by Dr. Vine at Psych Recovery, Inc.
Unlike medications, which act throughout the entire body, TMS does not cause side effects such as weight gain or sexual dysfunction. TMS does not cause cognitive side effects or memory problems that are sometimes related to electro-convulsive therapy (ECT). TMS Therapy does not use anesthesia or sedation, so patients can resume their daily activities immediate after treatment and can drive themselves to and from treatment. A typical course of TMS treatment occurs 5 days a week for 4 to 6 weeks. Each treatment lasts less than 40 minutes.
