Today through Sunday
It’s the all-family festival of cross-country—sorry, ski fanatics, “x-country”—skiing. Our picks are the SuperCarnival on Saturday and Sunday, designed for kids ages 12 and under, and the Skijorning race around Lake Calhoun on Saturday afternoon. Skijorning is where you let your dog do the hard work so there will be dogs! Your kids can also show up with $10 and do the “Minne-Loppet” on Saturday afternoon—the Minnesota Youth Ski League will provide all equipment.
Winter Carnival Weekend, Round Two @ St. Paul
Saturday and Sunday
Because yeah, it’s still winter. Our picks are the World’s Toughest Rodeo at the Xcel on Friday night, and the inaugural outdoor baseball game at Midway Stadium on Saturday afternoon. It’s supposed to reach a balmy 19 degrees then—wear your shorts.
Art Shanty Projects' Sparkle Parade @ White Bear Lake
1 p.m. Saturday
Yo, Art Shanty lovers, they’ve moved! And the parade's so shiny we've gotta wear shades, on our snowpants, or. . .whatever, stick around to explore the art shanties. It’s all free.
The Superbowl @ Your Television
5:30 p.m. Sunday
In case you haven’t heard.
Note: Sunday is also Groundhog Day, when we’ll all find out if we’ll have an early spring or six more weeks of snow days.
