Sharks, snow sculptures, and a chance to meet WordGirl. Word up! Here's your “It’s-the-weekend-and-I-have-nothing-planned!” family plan. (Note: Most of these are in St. Paul, so . . . Word up, St. Paul!)
+ Winter Carnival @ all over St. Paul
“The Coolest Celebration on Earth” ramps up this weekend. On Saturday, the Grande Day Parade happens at 2 p.m., and Kids’ Day happens from 2-6 p.m. at Landmark Center. Free hot cocoa in the Saint Paul Hotel from 1-4 p.m. There are ice sculptures, and an “autonomous” snowplow competition in Rice Park. Most events are free, but some are ticketed. Check their website for deets.
Friday–Sunday, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Five rotating films light up the Omnitheater’s GINORMOUS screen every day through Feb. 28 (except Mondays. They’re closed Mondays.) First film each day free for SMM members. See schedule for film times.
Saturday 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
