This one’s for you, new mama.
Touch Boutique, the high-end lingerie and “intimate accessories” shop in Eden Prairie, hosts an “Intimacy After Baby” class every first and third Thursday of the month.
Owner Theresa Philbin is a registered nurse, and her mission (with shop and with classes) is to take the stigma out of our sexuality in a way doesn’t embarrass us all. In other words, the focus is less on garters and gadgets and more on the real stuff: trust, comfort, and closeness.
That’s called intimacy, and if you’re the parent of a child, you’ve obviously gotten there at least once. Getting back there can be a tough go, though, and that’s what Theresa’s class is about. “The class focuses on the physical and emotional changes in the first year after the birth of a child, and the impact on relationships,” Theresa says. It also gives strategies for common issues. Because losing intimacy after the birth of a baby is totally, utterly common.
You want it back, even if you don’t exactly feel like it. And we’re guessing your partner wants it back, too.
Happy Valentine's Day to both of you.
