If you are looking to replace a slightly ripped Frozen poster that’s been clinging to your child’s bedroom wall since the 2013 holiday season, classier options are now at your fingertips. Minneapolis-based BoomBoom Prints is an online marketplace of cool, kid-friendly designs by artists from around the country.
“As parents, we believe that every kid is unique — so why, then, shouldn’t the items that we surround them with be unique too?” asks CEO Brett Brohl.
The Etsy-Pinterest-Café Press mash-up helps parents design kids’ bedrooms (or find the perfect design to complete them) by selecting a theme like “Nautical,” “Fairy Tale,” or “Space Stars and the Moon,” and then customizing the designs they choose with specific colors and text. Prices range from $20 for a poster print to $250 for a 3-feet-by-3-feet canvas print. For good gifting measure, designs can also be printed on onesies, maternity tops, iPhone cases, thank-you cards, and more.
A handful of the artists hail from Minnesota. Katie McCollow is a local painter, actor, and writer, and Kate Worum (whose playful take on the unicorn is pictured above) works by day as an apparel and accessories trend designer for Target.
